LEADERSHIP

Lorelei Williams has two decades of experience in the non-profit and philanthropic sectors in the US and around the globe.  At the helm of Oníra Advisors, Lorelei provides a wide array of organizational and program development services in the US, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Recent clients include Ford Foundation, Brazil Foundation, W.K. Kellogg Foundation, MIT Community Lab, Brazilian Institute of Ethnic Media, and South African non-profit, Project People Foundation, among others.

Lorelei recently served as Civil Society Co-Chair for the U.S. State Department’s US-Brazil Joint Action Plan. This project promotes the exchange of resources, information and best practices amongst NGO’s in the US and Brazil to advance racial equality in both countries. In 2003, as a Fulbright fellow in Brazil, Lorelei founded Projeto Mentes e Portas Abertas (POMPA) to train Afro-Brazilian youth for public service careers. POMPA students successfully graduated college, interned in the city’s major institutions, launched their own non-profits, and secured full-time positions in the State Legislative Assembly, the Secretary of Education, and similar institutions.

Prior to founding POMPA, Lorelei worked at Accenture where she helped facilitate business process redesign for clients in the financial services, government, retail, and media industries. Lorelei also provided services in risk assessment, vendor management, research, and marketing. Lorelei has served as Production Editor for the Harvard Journal of African-American Public Policy. As Co-Chair of the Black Student Alliance Yale, she co-founded the Yale Black Solidarity Conference, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.

Ms. Williams holds a B.A. from Yale University in Political Science and African-American Studies and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
